DAY 47 - Sunny Kona

We got up early to get a tour of the surrounding area with Cameron, who drove us down to the nearest beach and then to some other bay area before showing us the local supermarket so we could get some grocery-shopping done. Everything was super expensive and so even though we tried to get only the most basic food and a LOT of tinned beans, this excursion ripped quite a hole in our wallets. When we got out of the supermarket it started raining and by the time we got home it was pouring it down. Just to put this into perspective, the one thing that EVERYONE back on Hilo side had agreed on about Kona is that it's the sunny and dry side, and according to Cameron it hasn't rained like this here in the last three years, which is just great considering we just came out of weeks and weeks of rain and mud and wet shoes and mould and had been looking forward to drying up somewhat.

In a way it was quite nice though to just have a thoroughly lazy day indoors used to unpack and finally finish all the movies we'd started watching and had to abort due to diverse technical problems. We had a nice egg-based dinner (Eggs! Finally!) and watched 'Love Actually' (all the way to the end as well!) before going to bed. Pretty boring first day but what can you do.
